Richmond Painters & Decorators
Riverside apartments & period flats
An apartment repaint is both a room-by-room commission and a shared-building exercise. We bring the two together: an interior scheme developed around your furniture and light, with clear arrangements for entry, deliveries and neighbours throughout the work.

A scheme for the apartment you occupy
Start with the view between rooms, then decide which spaces need continuity and which can have their own colour. In a riverside living room, review samples through the day rather than choosing from a photograph. For a converted period flat, include older cornices and window joinery in the surface list, alongside any later partitions or fitted cupboards.
Separate private work from building responsibilities
Confirm who can authorise work to windows, entrance doors and any surface adjoining the common parts. Send the managing agent's requirements where available. If exterior work is proposed, do not apply householder assumptions to a flat: the council explains that permitted development rights do not normally apply to flats. Establish the approval route for the specific proposal.

Work within the route to your front door
Walk the carrying route from the unloading point to the flat. Identify stairs, lift restrictions, narrow turns and finishes that require protection. Agree where materials can be kept inside the property, without treating a shared landing as a store. Include building working hours and resident notices before the programme is settled.
Stains deserve a recorded decision
A mark near a window or below an upstairs bathroom needs a history: when it appeared, whether it changes and what repairs have been completed. Record any unresolved matter for the responsible owner or manager. Decorative preparation can follow the agreed repair outcome; it should not obscure the information needed to investigate an ongoing problem.
Arrange approvals when you are away
Appoint a keyholder and identify who can accept samples or agree a change. Decide which cupboards and rooms are outside the instruction and make arrangements for personal belongings before work starts. The handover can then follow a clear surface list, with product and colour references recorded for future touch-ups or further rooms.
